The more you live life, you find that you are proving yourself to others. Many times in life. With many people too. People who are close to you and who are not. It may be your boss, your subordinate. Your parent or your child. Your friend or your enemy.
This proving game takes away quite a bit of our lives. It makes life tougher. All the while we think what the other person must be thinking…and the cycle goes on.
Did you realise that God accepts you the way you are? He does not want you to be somebody you are not. He wants you to come to Him exactly the way you are.
It is so futile to try be something else when going to Him. In Psalm 139, David says,
“Yahweh, you have searched me, and you know me. You know my sitting down and my rising up. You perceive my thoughts from afar. You search out my path and my lying down, and are acquainted with all my ways.” (vv. 1 – 3)
When you worship God, do you raise your arms because everybody does so? Do you sing, even when you don’t feel like to? Whom are you trying to fool? 🙂
Have you, in such a moment, told him “Lord, I don’t feel like worshipping you today!” or “Lord, I just want to be alone!”
Try it if you haven’t yet. God respects your space. He understands your needs. He will not barge in.
Enjoy the One who loves you so much!
