Ephesians 1: 4
“just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love,” (NKJV)
Andrew Koenig and Kirk Cameron were leading stars of hit sitcom, Growing Pains. They both were famous. Today, one of them is not in this world. Andrew Koenig was found dead in a park in Vancouver on February 26, 2010. His father, Walter Koenig, in a press conference, said his son “took his own life”. Andrew was apparently suffering from clinical depression.
I do not know what Antony went through and I am no judge. But I have met people who suffer from depression. We all have had our personal low-tides and it is never easy. We start thinking of ourselves as worthless, as if there is no purpose in life. We don’t think anybody loves us. Living every day becomes a drag. Nothing, anybody says cheers us up.
The Bible says we are all chosen before time began. When did time begin? We don’t know. But God chose you and me before there was time. He knew us before anything we see existed. God thought of us at a time where our imaginations are not able to imagine.
There is something about that thought that gives me a lot of hope and assurance. So the next time you feel low or maybe, you are feeling down today, think about this – there is someone who’s been thinking of you even before you ever came into existence. Before time. If someone was capable of knowing you back then, you think he knows what he is doing in your life.
We all go through circumstances that does not make a lot of sense. Life brings us pain that we do not comprehend. Surprises that aren’t very pleasant. Let downs we never expected. I do not know what you are going through. You don’t understand what’s going on in mine. But I write, because there is Someone who does. He does understand. He does know. And there is nothing any of us can do that can change that. So smile!
What do I pray?
Cast your cares on Jesus. Tell Him what’s on your mind. Tell Him your worries. Your thoughts. And check out what He has to tell you.
