“We are starting a daily devotional on “Simply Him” this year. A thought every day to get you through life, to remind you that there is Someone who cares, to tell you there is hope and to simply bring back the focus on Him – Jesus Christ. We hope these would bless your heart and guide your daily walk with the Lord.”
“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” (NKJV)
It is always good to know where it all started. It is better to know that someone is in control. Even better to know that the person in control knows what He is doing.
God created the heavens and the earth. When we read the creation story, we understand how God was in control. How He brought order from chaos. How He brought light into darkness. How He arranged the dry land and the waters. How He brought the grass, trees, flowers, birds and animals. He knew what He was doing. He did not ponder for a moment or stop in the middle of His work and say, “Wait a minute! I can do better than that!” He built it and it was perfect.
God, Himself, looks at all that He had done and was impressed. He said, “This is nice!” (Vs. 31 “Then God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good.”) I can picture Michael and Gabriel standing in awe when they saw what had been done. It was pure and pristine. It had details. They had never seen the water trickling down the rocks and how it shone in the sun. They never heard the sweet song of the birds before. Those creatures – in all shapes and sizes. They looked carefully and saw something move on a yellow flower. It was a tiny, beautiful, multi-colored creature, we call the butterfly. I imagine them looking at each other in absolute wonder after what they witnessed and realized that their mouths were open. I am sure their response would have been to bow down and worship the God of creation. Only He could think of something like this – with so much detail.
Today, is the beginning of a new year. And God is still in control. But He is not going to force you into giving control. You need to give it to Him. You can be sure that He will make you beautiful and perfect. It does not matter what you have been through. The God who brought order from chaos can take your life and turn it around. Give Him a chance and you will see!
Pray in your own words: Ask Him to take control. Tell Him to take charge. Tell Him you are giving Him a chance to turn your life around. Ask Him to make it beautiful and meaningful to you and the people around you.
